Privacy policy

What personal information we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Draft

This document is a draft and is being reviewed by Australian legal advisers. It will be updated before Shando opens to the public.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, mobile), task details and photos, messages, booking and payment records, and for taskers: profile, service areas, tax details required for ATO reporting, and verification status from Stripe. We do not store card numbers or full bank account numbers; Stripe handles them.

Why we collect it

To run the marketplace, process payments and payouts, prevent fraud and abuse, provide support, meet legal obligations (including the ATO Sharing Economy Reporting Regime), and improve the service.

Who sees it

Other users see your public profile, and the suburb and postcode of your tasks. Your street address is shared only with the tasker you hire, after payment. We share data with service providers that help us operate (hosting, payments, email and SMS) and with regulators where the law requires.

Photos

Location and camera metadata is removed from uploaded photos. Task photos are visible only to signed-in users; completion and dispute evidence is visible only to the parties and Shando support.

Your choices

You can access and correct your details in Account settings, turn off optional emails, and ask us to close your account. Some records must be kept to meet tax and legal requirements.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls on every record, multi-factor authentication for staff and audit logging of administrative access.

Contact

Questions or complaints about privacy can be sent through Support. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
